Disenchanted asked: My boyfriend is coming to visit me from West Virginia (I live in Canada.) He’ll be staying with my sister and myself. He doesn’t have a job currently and neither do I (I’m going to school on financial assistance). Will they ask him about money at the border? If he says he’s staying with friends how much money is he required to have on him if we’re paying for all his food/shelter/entertainment?

I’ve read on many sites that as of June 1, 2009 I will *need* a passport. Since it’s so close to the law changing, supposedly, does someone need a passport right now to get into Canada? Any answers with personal experience would be great.
