How do you visit a town from Animal Crossing:WW to the nintendo Wii Animal Crossing City Folk?

Its really confusing to me. The only thing i figured out was having my person in City Folk come to my DS version, but how can you get your person from the DS version to visit the City Folk one???

I also tried inputting the friend code from City Folk to my DS version but it says its invalid. Is this possible?? Help is greatly appreciated!
