Warning! Holidays abroad can be full of hot air!

July 4th, 2009 — 03:39 am

The credit crunch has a lot to answer for! According to the article “When holiday interruption pays insurance claims” many people would rather go on holiday in a hurricane zone than in their favourite Costa Brava/del Sol location. More than ever before we are witnessing a trend of people preferring to climb aboard the long haul to taste the delights of a more exotic location.

The worst that can happen to a holidaymaker in Spain is to have your sun lounger nicked even though you’d marked your territory while the delights of the Caribbean do tend to be marred by the occasional tropical hurricane.

Looking on the positive side, the hurricane season is very brief and the chance of finding yourself on holiday during a bout of severe weather is very remote. On the negative side, if you do wish to cancel your holiday because of severe weather your travel insurance will have very strict limitations regarding the payout of a claim. A call to your insurer will provide the answers to any questions you might have as forewarned is forearmed!

Happy holidays!

What next for the Mexican traveller?

May 10th, 2009 — 01:49 am

Some people choose not to buy their travel insurance cover at the time of booking their holiday. According to the article “Swine flu concerns blight holiday plans” people who have booked their holidays independently without purchasing their travel insurance prior to the FCO alert are concerned they will lose all their money.

Insurance companies are unlikely at the moment, in the light of the new FCO recommendations, to provide travel insurance to Mexico now. In the event that your airline may not offer a refund especially if the plane is still scheduled to fly out to Mexico, you could contact your credit card company.

All future claims could be invalidated should you choose to ignore FCO recommendations and travel to Mexico at this point in time.

People who were due to fly out to Mexico later on in the year can cancel their trip in advance although passengers would be unlikely to get their money back. This is because the FCO could rule at any point between now and the future that it is safe to travel to the country. Why not approach your airline for an alternative destination instead?

Ibiza – full of promise!

January 26th, 2009 — 03:30 am

Ibiza, is the Balearic Island famous for its incredible dance music scene and the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. This where the pulsating bass line takes you when you follow its enticing calls.

Famed for its clubs, Amnesia, Space and Eden Ibiza has more to offer than somewhere to splash about covered in foam and dance till your feet drop off! A smaller island than its Balearic cousin, Mallorca, Ibiza only attracts about a fifth of the market that holiday there every year.

It is fair to say that a lot of people are put off Ibiza because of the younger scene, but the truth is, that people of all ages and tastes enjoy the island. There is an Old Town district in the capital Ibiza Town packed with interesting sights as well as some beautiful traditional villages. In addition to that, there are no end of special hidden beaches and coves about the island so why not flee the routine for a day and while in Ibiza hire a car for a spot of exploring?

What do people see in Ibiza?

January 26th, 2009 — 02:20 am

Plenty! Welcome to the party capital of southern Europe! Ibiza attracts the party tourist, which is typically a younger crowd who are more specific in their expectations for a holiday. The total amount of holidaymakers booking into hotels in Ibiza each year totals only a fifth of that landing on the shores of Mallorca each year.

People who gravitate towards the island of Ibiza each year are those who sleep during the day and dance all night long. No they are not vampires and the clubs of Ibiza are not straight out of Tarantino’s “From Dusk till Dawn”, they are a younger market wanting to have a good time. Plain and simple!

There is more to Ibiza than its foam parties and big club scene, if you are not likely to be drunk every waking hour, there is much to take the holiday hire car out to explore. It is a very beautiful island!

What is your favourite Balearic Island?

January 26th, 2009 — 02:08 am

Where else would you expect to find the beautiful Balearic Islands than in the middle of the clear turquoise tinted Mediterranean Sea. There is no other location that is more perfectly suited to the paradise like isles of the Balearics. More specifically, the islands are found off the coast of mainland Spain to the south of Barcelona.

Lovers of the package holiday know the Balearics inside and out. They have been enjoying the sun kissed beach holiday charms of Ibiza, Mallorca and the likes for over thirty years. They have everything you can think of to provide a great summer holiday that is why we keep going back. Whether you are determined to spend your week or fortnight stretched out on a towel or have greater ambitions of touring the island in your Palma Airport car rental, the Balearics have something for everybody!

Each island has its own identity and charm; it is just a matter of taste testing each one to find your perfect island. What is your favourite island?

All you need to know about Palma!

January 26th, 2009 — 01:38 am

There is much more to Mallorca than its gorgeous sandy beaches! Mallorca possesses a great capital city, that of Palma. A Catalan city that has been voted the best place to set up home in Spain, there is atmosphere on offer here as well as character, tradition and culture. Sadly, holidaymakers to the island tend to gravitate towards Magaluf and S’Arenal, but maybe you are the exception rather than the rule! Give the hotels in Palma a try! Should an opportunity come along to embark a day excursion to Palma, my advice is to grab it!

Palma’s Old Town is a treat! It is small enough to wander about without looking for parking spots for the hire car and big enough to lose the hustle and bustle of the streets without too much trouble.

About the cobbled streets of the capital, there are tapas bars at every turn for those delicious snacks you will continue to crave long after you have returned home! This is the perfect location too for really good souvenirs produced in front of you by local craftsmen and women.

Sightseeing in South Africa

February 15th, 2008 — 03:44 am
sightseeing
ica is a wonderful county where tourists can enjoy activities galore. It is among the oldest countries of Africa and here one can find fossil remains in the caves of Makapansgat, Sterkfontein, and Kromdraai. These remains suggest that australopithecines or ape-men lived in this country some three million years back. Sightseeing in South Africa is one of the best activities that tourists will love as the country offers a number of safari tours in the natural reserves and parks.

Do not miss Addo Elephant National Park, which is located close to the Zuurberg Range, in the popular Sundays River Valley. Here you can spot large herd of elephants, which are remainders of the herds that wandered in the Eastern Cape. You should note that the park remains closed in case of heavy rains as the road get too muddy.

Another hot sightseeing attraction is the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. It is among the best scenic highlights in South Africa and has excellent viewpoints like God’s Window and Wonder View. If you want to carry some mementoes for your family and friends, then you will find the souvenir sellers to be useful.

If you are visiting Cape Town then you can book any of the wonderful tours such as day tours, day safaris, cultural tours, diving tours, extended tours, wine tours, wildlife tours, and other sightseeing tours. Durban is a city, where you should visit the famous Ushaka Marine World to have a look at seals, penguins and dolphins. Johannesburg or eGoli is a largely populated city in the country. Here you can find various large-scale diamond and gold mines.

The other sightseeing spots of South Africa that you should include in your itenary are Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Cango Caves, Kruger National Park, Port Elizabeth, and Hoedspruit.

By booking car rental South Africa, you will find it easy to move from one location to another.
