jan/feb trip to florida – will we be hitting winter break students?

winter weekend break
michelliosis asked:

we are looking to plan a long weekend to orlando in january or february. we are flexible on dates but we’d like to go during a slower time, as well as low prices for hotels and airfare. is there a winter break during this time frame that students will be vacationing and we should avoid?

Its all about the same now but they say around superbowl time its dead, there are Madi gras things going on all Febuary to April at Universal studios.

Winter break (here) usually ends within the first few days of January, so I doubt you’ll hit winter break students. Yes, Mardi Gras is all of February at Universal, as a previous person said – but that won’t neccessarily make the parks way more crowded – especcially at times/days when there is nothing going on…

Disney’s big stuff ends around the end of December, so Jan and Feb should be winding down attendence, and you should be alright..

most college breaks end in the middle of january (around mlk day) so if you go between then and the middle of february you should be ok as some college spring breaks occur in late february.

All you need to do is look at the seasons of Disney hotel rates to find the answer. On season starts mid february to coincide with President’s week. Anywhere between January 2nd and Feb 15th is pretty darn good. Look out for the Disney marathon weekend or other big events.

I highly recommend February. You’ll have one of the quietest times of the year at the park. You’ll be avoiding summerbreakers, holiday tourists, and spring breakers. It’s not going to ever be empty, but that time of the year is about as good as it gets. Not to mention the weather will be very nice and comfortable (maybe a little cool, but better than hot and humid).

Just avoid Presidents Day weekend and you will be Golden. I go to WDW every year on my bday (Jan 18) and it is earily empty…oops shouldnt have told anyone that…now it will be packed!!

I am booked for Feb 8-15 and I have heard that it is pretty much a golden time to go. Not crowded at all!!!!

No it shouldn’t be crowded, we use to take the kids there for valentines day, it was always nice not many people in the parks, but the weather can be iffy that time of the year, I know many of the times we were in pants and jackets so if it is the warmth you want then I would suggest you go a bit later but if that doesn’t bother you then I would say Have a great time, to be on the safe side, get a hotel with an indoor pool too
