Gay Holiday In New York City

December 30th, 2009 — 09:21 pm

The biggest of America’s cities, New York attracts millions of visitors every year who come to experience its unmatched style and culture. There is a very old gay and lesbian scene that stretches back almost one hundred years. Gay travel to New York City is usually centred around Manhattan but other areas such as Brooklyn are also becoming popular of late. Manhattan stands out for its incredible shopping experiences, world class nightlife, and five star dining.

Gay travel enthusiasts come to New York City any month of the year. The most popular time has always been during the summer, this is especially true with gay tourists from Europe. If you want to explore the city when the crowds are less, then fall can be a great time to come. The winter season holds a charm all of its own, even though it can get very cold and even snow. Many memories have been made through sitting in a warm restaurant or bar when it is freezing outside. Of course Christmas is also a perfect time to get a feel for the city.

There are gay and lesbian events held whenever you choose to visit. New Year Eve in New York has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. New Year’s celebrations are unmatched anywhere. During spring there are the NewFest and Tribecca film festivals that attract many gay visitors. New York City’s main Gay Pride event occurs in late June with smaller versions held earlier in the month in Queens and Brooklyn. Halloween is also a popular time to camp it up.

As with any place it pays to have a little understanding of the layout before arriving. New York City is composed of 5 boroughs. Manhattan is an island wedged in-between the Hudson River and the East River. Not far away from here are the districts of Brooklyn and Queens on the western edge of Long Island.

The city has an excellent mass transit system that is easy to use and very affordable. It doesn’t really make sense to hire a car or bring your own as the traffic does not flow quickly and the parking costs are expensive.

If you plan to visit from one of the other main East Coast cities then there are plenty of long distance bus and train services available. Those flying in will arrive at one of three airports. JFK airport is located in Queens, Newark is across the Hudson in New Jersey, and La Guardia is the closest to Manhattan.

Beautiful Islands of the Philippines

December 30th, 2009 — 09:06 pm

Have you ever wonder why this country has been coveted by some powerful nations? What is it in these islands that captured the interest of foreign countries? You must read this article to find out.

Location and Area

The islands of the Philippines are situated in the Southeast part of the Asian archipelago; these beautiful islands are surrounded by three bodies of water: on the east you’ll find the Pacific Ocean, the China Sea on the west and northern part, and on the southern part is the Celebes Sea. Islands that are nearest to the Philippines are Borneo which is on the southwest part and Taiwan on the northern part. You can also find the island of Palau on the east, past the Philippine Sea and on the south are the islands of Sulawesi and Moluccas. The considered national hero of the country gave the title “Pearl of the Orient Seas” to the Philippines. From this you can imagine the beauty of the Philippine Islands if it was likened to a pearl.

Geography

The Philippines is composed of 7,107 islands and islets and because of this, the Philippine Islands was considered the largest archipelago of the world. This is divided into three larger sections – the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. There were eleven main islands and these are, Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Luzon, Masbate, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros, Palawan, Panay and Samar. And to have a clearer view of the area there are fifteen (15) regions, which are further, divided into provinces, municipalities and barangays.

Topography

Mountains and many of them can be found in the islands, and most of the high mountains in the area are volcanic in origin and are covered by a tropical rainforest. The Philippines is said to be lying on the volatile Pacific “Ring of Fire.” The number of volcanoes that can be found in the Philippine islands is two hundred twenty-one (221) but only 21 are active. Some of the well known active volcanoes of the Philippines are Mayon Volcano, which is one of the beautiful volcanoes in the Philippines with its perfect cone shape; Mt. Pinatubo, which draw attention when it erupted and left thousands of people homeless and the Taal Volcano which is bounded by water. Although these three active volcanoes bring some worry to the people, it also creates a lot of awe from guests who take pleasure to view it. Mt. Apo, the highest mountain is situated in Mindanao. This is perfect for mountain climbing enthusiasts.

Coral reefs can also be found in the many islands in the Philippines, these colorful creations of nature attract tourist from all over the world. You can find in some of the larger islands, the three major mountain ranges: the Caraballo, Cordillera and Sierra Madre ranges. The Agusan valley, Cagayan Vvlley, Cotabato River valley and the central plain of Luzon is what comprised the four major lowlands of the country.

You can find varied flora and fauna in the rainforests which can be found in the many islands of the Philippines. A large number of bird species can only be found in this country. The flora of the islands is quite similar to those of Borneo and Sumatra but there are some distinct differences that made it uniquely owned. Tourist can feast their eyes to the wonderful and colorful scenery in these islands.

Cagayan River is the longest river in the Philippines and can be found in the northern part of Luzon. Some of the important bays are Laguna de Bay, Manila Bay, Subic Bay, Davao Gulf and Moro Gulf.

Aside from the grandiose structures in the different islands, there are still other things that can be done while visiting these various islands. Several of the main islands are tourist spots and will offer you the rest and relaxation that you truly needed. Beach resorts, caves, sceneries, peculiar places, historic places, and sports are all around. You can also try island hopping in those nearby islets and experience the thrill and adventure in camping in an island.

The Islands of the Philippines are not only offering tourists places to visit and stay but also to experience the hospitality that only a Filipino (native of the Philippines) can truly give. This is a must-see and must-visit destination.

Bali Tourist Map

December 29th, 2009 — 12:22 pm

You’ll find Bali located three miles off the west coast of Java with a comparatively tiny land area of just over 5,000km ; Bali could easily fit into Australia over 1,200 times.  From the tip on a Map of Bali in the north to the tip of the island in the south is only 55miles and east to west it’s just 90 miles, so getting around the island is reasonably easy and the longest drive that you would need to do to get to any resort would be two hours at the most.

The hottest Bali Hotels are situated in the south of the island with a few others along the west and east coast.  Nusa Dua is the most southern resort that is popular with travellers, although you’ll find other less known ones a bit further south.  The roads round the coast of Bali are usually in good condition, it is when you leave the main stretch that you will find that the roads are very seldom maintained to any standard and are generally just mud tracks regularly impassible by two automobiles and you need to be wary of people and animals that use not only these side roads but the main roads to stroll on.

Heading along the west coast from Nusa Dua you’ll come to Jimbaran another extremely popular and busy holiday maker resort.  Maybe ten minutes further along you’ll pass by Ngurah Rai International airport that’s used as a gateway for the rest of Indonesia.  Kuta and South Kuta are perhaps another twenty minutes drive from here and this is where you’ll find the most commercialised area of Bali.  Not only are the hotels designed to accommodate many tourists, but the leisure facilities and the shopping areas very tourist orientated.

The drive from here to the tip of the west coast will take you past some of the more up market tourist destinations of Bali.  Legian and Seminyak are situated along the west coast and offer more magnificent accommodation including private beaches, gardens and swimming pools.  The rest of the drive up the west coast will take you past many places to remain, but they aren’t the famous or well-liked resorts or hotels.  For the tourist who favors isolated areas there’ll be plenty of places to remain along this western section of Bali without all the trappings and crowds of the big visitor places.

From here you could head inland in an easterly direction and you will come to Ubud which is situated in the mountainous region of Bali.  The landscape is worlds apart compared to the coastal resorts.  Here you’ll be surrounded by lush tropical rain forests with stunning perspectives of the mountains and volcanoes.  Driving further east you will shortly come to the eastern shore, where there are a few popular resorts.  As with the resorts further up the west coast you’ll find these are more expensive than the southern areas because of the fantastic diving locations around this area.  The well known resorts on the east coast are Candi Dasa and Sanur.  Once you get to Sanur you can take a detour inland and come to Denspanar, the capital of Bali.  Though this isn’t really a well-liked tourist destination due to its lack of beaches, night life and shopping malls, it remains worth taking time out to explore.

From Denspanar you would drive south again and before you get to Nusa Dua where you started from, you’ll pass Tanjung Benoa an an incredibly well liked, but very up market area.  Tanjung Benoa is situated on the end of the peninsula and has stunning views of the sea.

As far as the most visited and popular places in Bali go, those are the better known ones, but Bali offers so very much more.  There are so many more Bali hotels situated all round the island and on some of the smaller islands just around the coast.  Bali is definitely an island to be explored and taking one of the Bali Tours to one of the smaller know villages will give you a far better comprehension of the real Balinese lifestyle .

Spraying On Your Next Tan

December 28th, 2009 — 05:48 pm

Most of the spray tan tips revolve around the preparatory stages for the tanning session, meaning exfoliation most of the time. However, without denying the importance of exfoliation, there are lots of other spray tan tips that apply to the after treatment. In the following lines you’ll find the kind of suggestions that can help the tan last longer.

Exfoliation with a scrub is a necessity in order to eliminate the dead skin cells and leave the skin smooth for tan application. According to spray tan tips, you have to insist with the scrub on the knees and elbows because these are the body areas that stain most easily. Avoid applying any hydrating lotion on the body after the exfoliation because the oil ingredients could act as a barrier at the skin surface preventing the chemical reaction responsible for the browning.  Psychic Readings.

Then, Never wear jewels when you enter the tanning booth, because they will prevent an even body coverage and could also get stained. Staining is also common with the use of bronzers and clothes will get easily blotched; it is best not to wear anything white or light-colored and once you get home, wash the items immediately to prevent advanced blotching.

The tanning process doesn’t take more than a minute. Once you are out of the booth, the nails, the palms and the soles of the feet have to be carefully wiped from all color excess. Be quick with this type of cleaning because the tanning agents get dry very fast and you could have bronzer left on nails, making them look really bad.  Psychic Readings.

It is true that the tanning agents have a rapid drying rate, but the coloring process takes a while, many tan tips advise tanners not to shower for at least six hours. This will let the DHA substances to get into contact with the amino acids and start the browning coloring of the skin. If you shower or bathe sooner, the tanning may not be over. Avoid tanning if you suffer from allergies or contact dermatitis, and should you follow any dermatological treatment, ask for the doctor’s advice before tanning.  Psychic Readings.

Spray tanning tips will contribute to maintaining tan longer. For example, short showers are preferable to long baths. Too much soap can also cause the tan to fade because the glow remains only at the very superficial skin layer. If the top dermal cells peel off, then, the tanning effect is over too!

weekend trip
Katie W asked:

I’m thinking of surprising my husband with a weekend trip to DC this weekend for our 6 month anniversary. I’d love some ideas on unique places to stay. I’d also love input from some guys on fun things to do. A little bit of info about him to help you out…he is a huge Redskins fan, loves Vietnam war history, the Dave Matthews Band and spent 3 hours in the Smithsonian last fall flying those hydraulic fighter planes. I hope you can help me!

Theme Park Ride Beats Safari?

December 27th, 2009 — 09:05 pm

If you have managed to get over to Disney World you will know for a fact that they have a big ride over in Animal Kingdom known as Kilimanjaro Safari and of course it is supposed to be a bit like the real thing. Is this ride just a really bad adaptation of the African Safari or is just something that you can actually compare.

The ride itself is very good as it feels like a real safari so it is very cool if you cannot afford to gety over to Africa for the real thing. It features many real animals that you could expect to see on a real safari. Of course there are some negatives to the ride. One of the big problems is that the person driving you around is a bit cheesy and you can really tell that they are doing this all the time, they do have some really cool information on the animals.

It of course does not compare to the real thing but are Disney not looking to compare but to show a glimpse of the real thing. All Disney are tyring to do is giving a bit of a taster when it comes to going on a safari. All Disney are trying to do here is show you the real beauty of Africa, it is meant to inspire people to go and visit the real place.

So why don’t you actually go after a real Safari holiday by taking a going on one of those Kenya Holidays. Of course you could also go on one of those Namibia Holidays or even Zambia Holidays.

If you are not sure about going to Africa then it could be well worth going to the theme park first, if you like it then consider going!

How can you have a holiday abroad at home?

December 26th, 2009 — 07:38 pm

I was all packed and ready to go on holiday with my fiancée when she came down with a really bad stomach ache, the day before we were going to leave. We both were looking forward to this holiday, and it was the only time that we could get off work. We couldn’t actually do anything now, we were just sitting at home.

We managed to cancel the holiday and somebody referred us to a site on the internet. My Fiancee and i had never heard of this thing called a Virtual holiday, and we both felt a bit funny trying it. If you can’t move about easily then this is great, the site takes you through all the cities you want. Trying to get some of these holidays when your not well isn’t easy, so something like this can work well.

This didn’t really appeal to me at first; I thought that this can hardly be fun. My first thoughts of this were that it was going to be like a trailer for a film, but made for holidays.

It was a lot more fun and informative than i first thought. We paid for one of these holidays, although there are some sites that do this for free for those that can’t leave the house. We were going to go to New York, so we paid for one of these virtual holidays. We did have quite a lot of “maneuverability” as well, we could go through museums and travel to specific locations, as long as they were in the system. This program that we had purchased took us right the way around the city, showing us all of the sights, the picture was so smooth and so was the sound.

We got everything out of this virtual holiday that we really wanted. Virtual holidays could be the next big thing and it looks as though they are spreading to new locations.

We had fun trying this “trip”, although it isnt the same as the actual thing, it is close, we would like to try the Egypt holidays or Maldives holidays one, where the experiences are far too pricey for us to try, maybe Christmas holidays just got a lot less inexpensive?

Celebrities That Originated In Wales

December 25th, 2009 — 05:18 pm

There have been many welsh celebrities over the past few years that have gone on to become huge successes. Many of them really have not. Here is just a small list on some of the best ones that have proved to be very successful.

The Brilliant Christian Bale

Yes this huge Hollywood actor was actually born in Wales in 1974. Although he really didn’t spend too much time in the country as he left when he was two he was born there which is why he certainly has to be on this list. His father was a commercial pilot and talent manager and his mother a circus clown. 1976 was the year in which he left Wales at just the age of two and he has since spent a lot of time in England, Portugal and the USA. His top films include American Psycho, Batman Begins and Batman: The Dark Knight and of course Equilibrium.

Aimee Duffy (Duffy)

Aimee Duffy was actually born in 1984 and is a very successful singer/songwriter. Duffy has only recently produced one album and it came in at number one in the charts of the UK upon release. Duffy actually grew up speaking Welsh as her mother tongue which isnt too common to see in Wales nowadays. She actually dropped her first name Aimee and simply called herself Duffy for both personal and professional reasons.

Catherine-Zeta-Jones

Another welsh actor here and was born in Swansea in 1969. She left school early to go after her dream of becoming an actor. The films that she is most known for include The Mask of Zorro, Chicago and The Legend of Zorro.

So there it is, just the first half of the most famous people that have come from Wales and went on to become very rich people.

Part two goes on to talk about Tom Jones, Katherine Jenkins and the controversial Charlotte Church.

Wales is actually a really nice spot to take one of those Family holidays UK or perhaps even one of those awesome family days out.

When the qualifications have been met

December 24th, 2009 — 04:53 am

The popularity of migrating in developed countries has always been prevalent among those who seek an improved life.  Through work, study, and family connection it is possible for any one to get into a country of their choice.  The catch , however , is that its not an easy accomplishment.

One of the top nations fast growing with immigrants is Canada.  From nurses to waiters, Canada has been accepting migrants from all over the world.  The standard of life is high and possibilities for work and career are widespread and many.

Its may be no surprise that you know 1 or 2 folks who have already moved to Canada.  They have taken the steps for them to become immigrants ; and have a go in living in a foreign and developed country.  If you seek a similar thing, there are several ways for you to reach it ; and if by chance you’ve a member of the family already living there – the best choice for entry is through Canada’s Family Class sponsorship.

How family class funding works

For you to be qualified for family class funding, it has to be a two-way agreement between you and a relative living in the country.  A qualified relative implies that she must already be a Canadian voter or an everlasting resident of Canada.  If this is established, then the next thing to acquire is the eagerness of that relative to sponsor you for Canadian immigration.

the link between you and your relative , however , has some fringes to be considered.  If that relative is some distance from being a first-degree relation, chances are slim, but still possible.  The list below outlines the kind of relationship that’s qualified for funding :

better half ( wife/husband ) ; common-law or conjugal partner

Grandparent/s or parent/s

A dependent child ( generally below the age of 21 )

Under 18, unmarried, or orphaned brother, sister, grandchild, niece, nephew

A kid that is under eighteen and reserved for adoption

Other relative/s that are not mentioned above

For the ready sponsor, a number of qualifications for him/her to be ready to help another relative get into Canada are also required.  Aside from being a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, the sponsor should be financially capable to provide for the sponsee.  Financial capability implies that the sponsor is able to give the essential wishes such as food, shelter, clothing and other basic necessities of everyday living.

The sponsor should also acquiesce in entering an agreement with Canada’s government in providing the essential wants for the sponsee over a time period.  Also in agreement is that the sponsor should also make an effort into making the sponsee self-supporting.

Other sponsor qualifications include the following :

He/she is eighteen years old or above ;
isn’t in jail or any similar facility ;
isn’t broke ; and
is not charged with any serious or major offence

Process and processing time

When the qualifications have been met, it is then possible for you ( as a sponsored relative ) to make an application for immigration – either from inside or outside of Canada.  This application is step one in the immigration process and can vary based mostly on the form of application.

your claim goes through a number of phases, and extra fees are needed along the way.  The downside for all immigration applicants is that nothing is 100 pc sure ; so ensuring all of your requirements are met is a particularly crucial part when applying.

The processing time is also a  significant component that relies on your kind of relationship with your sponsor.  The chances of quicker processing time is when your relative is of first-degree family.  Either way, processing times can be as short as six months to a major decade, depending on your circumstances.
