Knowledge Of Tourism in Italy

November 30th, 2009 — 04:48 am

Tourism is one of Italy’s major industries, employing some 23,000 people. Italy is the world’s fifth most visited county according to the World Tourism Organization, a United Nations agency based in Madrid. Popular destinations for tourism in Italy include Venice, Florence and Rome. This article will look at some popular types of tourism in Italy. Whilst the Mediterranean attracts a lot of tourists from Northern Europe who are attracted by its climate and its beaches, Americans are more likely to head to domestic destinations, to the Caribbean or to Mexico for those purposes. So this article will concentrate on other forms of tourism in Italy.

Historical Tourism in Italy

Rome, the “Eternal City” is the primary destinationfor historically based tourism in Italy. Once the seat of the world’s mightiest empire, Rome’s draw as a tourist destination continues to this day. The Coliseum is one of the world’s most famous and instantly recognizable landmarks, and is depicted on the Italian version of the 5-cent Euro coin. Built around 71 AD, its original name was the Flavian Amphitheater, named after the Roman Emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus, who commissioned the building. It was the site of the brutal gladiatorial games where men fought to the death for the entertainment of the masses.

Rome also houses the Vatican, which is actually a sovereign state in its own right, the world’s smallest, covering a mere 0.17 square miles – the same size as Tiananmen Square in Beijing! Catholics in particular will want to check out the Vatican, being the spiritual center of their faith, but even non-Catholics can enjoy the magnificent art and architecture contained therein.

Skiing Tourism in Italy

Italy is also home to a number of ski resorts. Mont Blanc, on the Italian-Swiss border, is Europe’s highest mountain and is cold enough for almost year-round skiing. Courmayeur is the ski resort on the Italian side of Mont Blanc and attracts visitors from all over the world, including the US. The resort’s website boasts that more languages are spoken there than at the UN.

Cortina, in the Dolomite Mountains, is an up-market Italian ski resort. Unlike Courmayeur, it is more popular with Italians than with overseas visitors, so it is worth visiting if you believe in going where the locals go when traveling. You may still spot the occasional American celebrity there – Sylvester Stallone, who filmed Cliffhanger in the Dolomites, has been known to pay the occasional return visit to Cortina.

Culinary Tourism in Italy

Italy is also famous for its food and wine, and there are travel companies that specialize in tours allowing you to sample various regional dishes and visit some vineyards too. One such is Cellar Tours, which offers tours of Italy that include samplings of wines, cheeses and balsamic vinegars. You also get to visit some of Italy’s most beautiful locations, and all trips are individually tailored to your needs. These are high end tours, where you get to stay in luxury hotels and are driven in your own chauffeured Mercedes. Ideal for a romantic getaway, or just for lovers of the finer things in life.

November 28th, 2009 — 08:10 pm

Some important things are required when you are going for a journey in the car. The last thing that you want is to have the car break down or otherwise have problems when you are traveling in your car, and so there are a few easy tips for car travel that you are going to want to keep in mind, and especially tips for car travel with family if you are going to be bringing the kids along.

Easy Tips for Car Travel

One of the best easy tips for car travel is make sure that you bring a map along. This may sound a bit obvious, but it is actually something that many people forget to do. Especially if you are traveling to a very new place then detailed map with you will be very much beneficial for you.

You don’t want to get lost and have to stop and ask people for directions because likely you will end up getting a hundred different answers from a hundred different people. If you don’t want to end up going in circles the you must have a map aside you. Whether you bring along a map that you have bought or just printed one off your computer, you are definitely going to be grateful that you did, and it is always better to have it and not need it than not bring it and end up lost.

Another of the best easy tips for car travel is to make sure that you bring along enough activities for everyone. Of course the activities that you should choose are going to depend on who you are bringing along and how old they are. For babies, basically anything brightly colored or new is going to make them happy, while for older kids you can bring anything from card games to video games for them to play and to keep them occupied while you are driving.

These easy tips for car travel are really going to help you out and make sure that your trip there and back is as enjoyable as possible. Driving by car can make the whole trip a lot more fun, and even if you are only going to have to do a little bit of driving, you are still going to have to plan for it and make sure that everyone has something to do.

Entertainment at Disneyland

November 27th, 2009 — 03:48 pm

Brought to you by free auto insurance quotes online.

There is always something to see or do at
Disneyland, but Disneyland adds to this with nightly
entertainment during the peak season, and weekend
entertainment during the off-season. There is also
special entertainment during special occasions, such
as the Fourth of July and Christmas.

Fantasmic is held twice each night during the peak
season, and on weekends during the off-season.
The show takes place on Tom Sawyer’s Island, and
features many characters, music, and fireworks. For
the best seating possible, purchase tickets for
Fantasmic in advance, but note that free seating is
also available, and is included in your Disneyworld
park admission price.

The Parade of Dreams features large colorful floats
accompanied by many Characters. This parade
takes place twice each day. During the parade, the
entire parade will stop three times to do a
choreographed show, and most of the Disney
Characters are portrayed in the Parade of Dreams.

In the Fantasyland Theater, you can see a musical
of Snow White. This show is held several times
throughout the day. This show should not be missed
– especially if you love Snow White. Since the show
is held several times each day, reservations are not
necessary.

These are just a few of the shows that are available
at Disneyland. Again, entertainment is an ongoing
thing at the park, with each day bringing something
new. One thing that you can definitely count on, of
course, is the fireworks! The fireworks show is held
late each night – before the park closes for the day.

Even if you can’t stay for the fireworks, you can
probably see them out of your hotel window! Try to
get a view of the Fireworks from in front of Sleeping
Beauty’s Castle for the greatest effect. The fireworks
on the Fourth of July are out of this world.

To find out if there are any special shows or events
during the time that you will be at Disneyland, visit
the website, call the park, or ask your travel agent to
find this information out for you. You may also want
to inquire about special events during specific
months, so that you can plan your stay at
Disneyland for those days.

Most entertainment is provided free of charge, and is
part of your admission price. However, special
seating, or priority seating usually requires a fee, as
well as a reservation. Some events require an
admission price that is separate from your park
admission. Again, check the website, call the park,
or discuss events and fees with your travel agent
when planning your Disneyland Holiday.

Where Are The Disneyland Characters?

November 26th, 2009 — 03:22 am

Brought to you by car insurance company quote.

A Disneyland Getaway would not be complete
without the Characters that we all know and love so
well. Often, however, people leave Disneyland
disappointed – simply because they never found
their favorite character. The key to finding the
characters you love is in knowing where to look for
them in the first place.

Start with the Character Breakfast. Here, you will
probably see Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow
White, Mary Poppins, Jasmine, Ariel, Minnie and
Mickey Mouse, and many others. If you miss your
favorites at the breakfast, don’t despair – simply go
find them! Many characters will be on hand, right
inside the gates, to greet you as you arrive in the
morning as well.

Start in Toon Town, where all of the Disney
Characters live. Visit their homes to see if you can
get a glimpse of them. Go early, while they may still
be at home! Be sure to visit Goofy’s Kitchen as well,
since many characters pop in and out throughout the
day. If you’ve been through Toon Town, and you still
haven’t seen your favorite character, your next stop
should be Fantasyland. Different characters can be
located telling stories throughout Fantasyland.

When Is The Best Time To Be At Disneyland?

When you are planning your Disneyworld Holiday,
you should note that some days are better than,
others at the park. The days that you choose to be
there will depend greatly on whether you are more
interested in attractions or entertainment – or both.

For instance, Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, and
Thursday’s are the days when you will have shorter l
ines for the attractions, because there will be fewer
people there. On the other hand, the entertainment
on those nights cannot compare to the entertainment
that is offered on the weekends. If entertainment is
important, plan your visit to Disneyworld for the
weekend.

If you will be at Disney World for several days, however,
plan to ride the attractions on Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday, and then enjoy the entertainment, as
well as the other things the park has to offer on the
other days. If you are visiting during the off-season,
you should note that entertainment usually isn’t
offered on weekdays. Also remember that the park
really fills up as the day wears on, so try to ride the
attractions in the morning if possible!

10 Tips to Improve your Business Travel

November 25th, 2009 — 08:27 pm

•    Book a hotel that offers free amenities such as Wi-Fi access, parking, cable and local phone calls. Most hotels will also have personal items such as an iron, ironing board, hair dryer and basic toiletries.
•    As you schedule your flight, request your seat and whether you want a window or aisle seat. Confirm your seat assignment when you check in. You could also check out SeatGuru.com which can show you the best, most spacious seats on a wide variety of aircraft.
•    Plan your destination to make sure you know where your hotel, work sites and other crucial locations are. You may also want to use online review sites to find customer ratings of popular restaurants and attractions in the location.
•    For short business trips, avoid checking luggage by bringing a carry-on (make sure all your toiletry items adhere to TSA guidelines). If you’re unable to avoid checking luggage, bring all your electronics and an extra set of clothing in case your baggage is lost.
•    Be ready for any technology issues! Carry an extra jump drive and hard copies of essentialinformation.
•   Always bring some cash in case you need to quickly make small purchases such as food or a cab ride.
•    If you are going to be to another country, make sure your electronic devices will work in your city; otherwise, you may need to bring an adapter.
•    Business trips are usually stressful enough without having to worry about working in the cramped confines of an airplane. Use the time to relax and enjoy yourself before the actual work begins.
•    Make sure you have a great roaming deal through your cellular provider or you may be slapped with huge extra fees.
•    In some cities, it maybe be better (time-wise and financially) if you use mass transit instead of renting a car. Make sure you study the routes before your trip so you can quickly get to and from various locations.
