How to Travel The States

March 31st, 2009 — 12:02 pm

Fly Drive USA

As much fun as holidays to America are; it is important to remember that each state is in fact like its own little country and has its own traffic laws.

A popular, relatively cheap and independent mode of transport to travel in the States is of course the car. But please see the following tips.

Tip #1 – Always ask your car agent if there are any special laws for drinving in the current state

Tip #2 – If driving through states, make sure you take a tour book for driving regulations.

Whatever you do, ALWAYS observe the speed limits in school zones (15 mph if lights are flashing) and ALWAYS stop if you are in front or behind of a school bus with flashing lights. In the US, children are well-protected by laws!

Rail Tours USA

If you are a fan of USA tours but don’t fancy driving the whole way across the states then USA rail tours are a must. They are an affordable luxury and are considered to be akin to hotels on wheels. Enjoy the comfort of air-conditioned cabins and uniformed staff attending you whilst having a sleep or enjoying the beautiful scenery to be found in North America and Canada. As they have cabins available you can of course have a full nights sleep as you travel or instead you can eat, drink, recline the seats, gently close you eyes and let the world float away. There are also sleeping cabins to rest overnight.

Cruising America

If you want to try cruising round the Caribbean or Alaska, then a trip from normally Florida, by luxury cruiser is a fantastic experience and oftentimes a great deal. .

Popular Destinations

If you are trying to decide on where to go some of the best USA destinations are;

Las Vegas, Nevada – like Disney World for grown-ups.

Orlando, Florida – The real Disney World resides here.

Alaska – a truly massive wilderness to get safely lost in

San Francisco, California – Feel a touch of living new American history.

Wish I was coming with you on your trip to America.

Caribe Cove Resort: There’s More to Orlando than Meets the Eye

March 30th, 2009 — 07:02 am

There is more to Florida than the wealth of theme parks in the Orlando area. Orlando city has a wide range of sights, places to eat with many of these available along International Drive where it is possible to park the car and take a stroll. Everything a visitor could possibly want is here and the reason why people return year after year.

A visit must be made to the Central Florida Zoological Park in Sanford which has been opened since 1975. Any animal lover would be in awe at their collect of over four hundred animals. It is actually a privately owned charitable group dedicated to the protection of exotic animals plus species that are native to Florida but also offers informative and child-friendly classes and events.

Another great place to visit about twenty minutes drive from Orlando Airport is The Orlando Science Center, originating back to 1955; it is a huge complex with over two hundred thousand square feet of exhibition space spanning ten halls. The International Trolley and Train Museum has fourteen trains running simultaneously in mountains, wilderness and urban areas; including three waterfalls that use 12,000 gallons of water per hour.

There are plenty of resorts to chose from and a good place to check them out is the Trip Advisor website where you will find plenty of unbiased reviews, including the ‘candid’ travellers photos as opposed to the often unrecognizable official hotel ones. Our newest resort, Caribe Cove in Kissimmee, may well soon be our most popular, too. Caribe Cove Resort is a platinum rated resort in a quiet location, yet close enough to the action, with enormous condos and first class decor and furnishings. It is surrounded by lush wetlands yet still only minutes from Disney and provides a real oasis to return to after a frenetic day at the parks and attractions of Orlando. There’s no need for ‘candid’ photos at this resort as what you see is really what you get!

This Year is the Best Time to Holiday

March 28th, 2009 — 03:05 pm

With the credit crunch affecting everyone people are now afraid of spending any money. There is no chance that people will even consider going abroad these days.

With the recent studies that show airlines can fold at any times people are scared of getting stranded abroad. But in my personal opinion now could be in fact the best time to go to any selection of all inclusive holidays and I will tell you why.

1) A Lot of stores are panicking, I only went into a travel agents a few weeks back and they gave me a huge price and said if you find it cheaper on our site come back and book it here. I said well what's the point of coming back and the representative replied to keep the shops in business. 2009 Holidays are much cheaper giving you better value for money then a year ago.

2) If you do decide to go abroad this year on a selection of any family holidays then I would definitely take advantage of it because the hotels abroad will probably be a lot less busy then they were in 2008 simply because everyone is staying put. So you'll end up reaping the benefits of better food, tidier room and excursions that are free.

There financial downturn is not as bad as people make out, if you constantly look at the negatives of things it will make you go mad. Do not just listen to the negative opinions of the press because they tend to always look on the bad side of things.

Elephants Gets Leg Replaced

March 27th, 2009 — 01:04 pm

Safari holidays are a growing trend, more and more people want to jump onto the plane and head to Africa to go on a dream safari. Whilst you are there you are there you are bound to get to see some great animals such as lions, leopards, cheaters and not to mention the adorable elephants.

But let's dedicate this article to one brave elephant in Thailand called Mosha who is currently 3 years old. Mosha lost some of her leg when she stepped on a bomb at seven months olf. She was promptly rushed to an elephant hospital, but was expected to die until an amputation expert replaced the elephant's leg.

Elephants have a large lifespan, nearly as long as a human, they live as long as 80 years in most cases so it would have been really terrible to see one die so very young. Mosha has just been recently fitted with a new false leg after out growing her original one. The leg is made of plastic, metal and sawdust so it works as a comfort to the poor elephant and can hold all of her huge weight. Mosha had to simply have her false leg exchanged due to the quick growth in body mass.

She now eats a huge 9kg of food a day, so it is highly likely she will grow a lot more over the next coming year.  Its great news to hear because when the incident first occurred other Asian elephants did not want to go near Mosha and instantly rejected her, causing her not to eat, but they have now all bonded and in all honesty she is a very happy and healthy elephant. So remember Mosha when you are looking at beautiful elephants whilst on your exotic Kenya holidays.

If you only had a week vacation and you want to visit Australia New Zealand?

KDK asked:

My 1st trip to Oz NZ. I would like to see all the exotic animals like kangaroos koalas in Austrailia. What are the best cities to see that?

In New Zealand, I would love to see the beautiful mountain valley landscapes that I’ve heard so much about, and wouldn’t mind seeing the heard of lambs either!

I basically want to be able to visit cities that would overall tell me what Oz and NZ is all about with such a short amount of time. Thanks!

Choosing the Best Type of Luggage for Your Trip

March 25th, 2009 — 09:36 pm

When planning a trip away you will need to give some thought to what type of luggage to take. Things to keep in mind are your means of transportation, the length of your trip, and your accommodations when you get there.

Your mode of travel will dictate your choice of bags to a degree. Depending on your mode of transport, you will have different space allocations for your bags. For example, traveling by plane you will usually be allowed either one or two pieces of luggage to check in and one you can take on the plane with you. Buses and trains have similar restrictions. Don’t forget to verify luggage information with your airline, train or bus prior to departing. If you’re traveling by car, the only restriction is how much room you have available.

How long you plan to be gone is another consideration with regard to the luggage you should bring. A weekend trip will only require a small carry all. It’s unlikely that you’ll need to pack the same amount of clothing as you would if you were going to be gone for a few weeks.

When you reach your destination, where will you be staying? You’ll have to keep your luggage somewhere, so be sure to give this some thought before you leave. Will there be somewhere you can wash your clothes? If this is the case, you will not need to take as many clothes with you so smaller bags will do quite nicely.

If you feel that your accommodations don’t have adequate security, make sure your luggage locks. And be sure to properly identify your luggage. A customized luggage tag will ensure that you can easily spot your luggage at the airport. It also makes it less likely that someone will accidentally walk away with your bags.

Also, think about how frequently you plan on traveling before buying any new luggage. Perhaps you’re not much of a traveler and you don’t really plan on taking any more trips. If that’s the case, just borrow some luggage from someone you know.

However, if you are a globetrotter, you should buy the best luggage you can afford. Choose well made, durable pieces which will be able to withstand a lot of rough handling. Luggage is usually treated quite roughly during the process of loading and unloading. There’s nothing worse than a broken zipper or a seam coming undone when you are in the middle of the airport or staying at a place far away from home.
