Planning a trip to South America?

trip to south america
Khadijah asked:

Hello : )

We are planning a trip to South America next Nov, I do speak spanish fluently so we really do not need a guide/translator. I was thinking to go in our own, and explore as much as we can… Have you done this before ??? How was your experience ??? Any recommendations ??? I have been looking for the air fares online, but some of them have a weird connections, like Miami – Sao Paulo (Brazil), – Sao Paulo – Miami, Miami – Buenos Aires : ( … What do you recommend me to do ??? Where I should start looking ???

Thanks so much for your help !

Brazil would be a trip in and of itself. But I would suggest looking at airfares to Buenos Aires (EZE is airport code). Every commercial airline has direct flight from several cities in the US–American Airlines has the best options and number of flights to Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires is a great city to visit -the Paris of South America –I would highly suggest taking the Buquebus (a luxury yacht-but very inexpensive tickets) to Colonia, Uruguay and enjoy a part of Uruguay. Then you can hop over to cities in southern Argentina such as Bariloche or even Santiago, Chile.

Once you are in Buenos Aires, you can travel to many South American cities very easily.

Pick a main city though to fly in and out of such as Buenos Aires (EZE) or Santiago, Chile (SCL) and plan your cities and places to visit.

Iguazu Falls is another great place to see (borders Argentina and Brazil).

Don’t forget though that Brazil you will need a visa and that Portuguese is main language; although many speak English and Spanish as well.
