If you are looking for air tickets to travel around Europe country to country, you can usually buy them cheaper over there.

For international tickets, try travelzoo.com. Also, once I find the best deal, I always check with that airline online b/c sometimes they can be cheaper. Check the prices every day though. That is what I did, and there was one day the prices dropped and that was the day my friend and I booked!

Unfortunately this year, there is the EURO 2008 (soccer) during the month of June, playing in Switzerland and Austria.
Cheap tickets and hotels???? Doubt it very much.

And gosh, go to a travel agency…most online cheap tickets are a losing proposition since you won’t get date and times you really want.

If you could depart May 21, I see San Francisco-Manchester available currently with KLM for $716rt total; LAX-London $726 with Air New Zealand, British Airways, Virgin, and American (all nonstop).

I checked from SFO and LAX to all gateways in Italy and Switzerland, plus MAN and LON. It looks like flights to UK are cheaper during this time frame by about $300. From London, you can book separately to another city, and return back to London from a different city, using

Alternatively, take a flight with Virgin America or JetBlue or another airline to NYC (JFK Airport), then switch to to Italy. They often have very good offers for departures in May.
