The credit crunch has a lot to answer for! According to the article “When holiday interruption pays insurance claims” many people would rather go on holiday in a hurricane zone than in their favourite Costa Brava/del Sol location. More than ever before we are witnessing a trend of people preferring to climb aboard the long haul to taste the delights of a more exotic location.
The worst that can happen to a holidaymaker in Spain is to have your sun lounger nicked even though you’d marked your territory while the delights of the Caribbean do tend to be marred by the occasional tropical hurricane.
Looking on the positive side, the hurricane season is very brief and the chance of finding yourself on holiday during a bout of severe weather is very remote. On the negative side, if you do wish to cancel your holiday because of severe weather your travel insurance will have very strict limitations regarding the payout of a claim. A call to your insurer will provide the answers to any questions you might have as forewarned is forearmed!
Happy holidays!

The best deals around in travel insurance are found at the moneysupermarket.com. From this website you browse to your heart’s content until the best deal crops up. Many of us pay over the odds for our insurance so you don’t have to abandon your holiday insurance in order to save money, you just need to know where to look and what to look out for!
According to the article “STOP! Book travel insurance AFTER reading this!”, first of all, make sure all the exclusions and excesses are realised in the knowledge that some incidentals are not all they seem. Secondly, consider booking your holiday insurance outside of your travel agent. Purchasing insurance at the same time as your holiday could cost you up to 500% more than you need to pay. A wise holidaymaker will go onto the Moneysupermarket straight after they have booked their holiday in order to get the best deals.
If you have a family to cater for consider annual cover. For around £60 per year, two adults and two children will receive about ten million pounds in medical fee insurance for holidays up to 21 days including seventeen days of skiing. (In case you were wondering, this quote was found on the Moneysupermarket website).

Rogo1119231 asked: I am planning to go back to Canada with a friend, and they say that it’s a known fact that Americans don’t need a passport to visit Canada.
I’ve read on many sites that as of June 1, 2009 I will *need* a passport. Since it’s so close to the law changing, supposedly, does someone need a passport right now to get into Canada? Any answers with personal experience would be great.

Sooner or later, it’ll be time to go up and explore the vast beauty and wilderness that is the state of Alaska. When it’s that time, being on the lookout for Alaska guided tours will be a necessary action to take. And there are usually two ways to see the state: Through a cruise ship tour or on land, going into the interior.
Remember, Alaska is a huge piece of real estate. There’s no possibility of ever seeing all of it, even over several lifetimes, so try to pick out the most memorable spots and go for them. Luckily enough, there are a number of quality tours on the market which serve to get people to the best locations and activities. There are a few things to keep in mind about Alaska tours so that you can make the most out of your Alaska travel experience.
To begin with, most sightseeing activity is by cruise ship these days, when time is limited or of a specific timeframe. Not to worry, though; all cruises offer on-shore activities as well. In fact, the cruise lines all have access to shuttle bus or private bus transportation to get a passenger to some of the most popular tourist spots, like the state’s wildlife conservation areas and centers.
For a more in-depth, longer-lasting experience, many people opt for land touring. Land tours cost a bit more, generally-speaking, than cruise ship tours. But a lot of these tours have partner discounts to help with airfare, tickets, transfers, car rentals and the like. In many instances, they’re a good alternative to a cruise, especially when time isn’t so much of a concern.
Try to include as much as possible, but in a quality way, of the Alaska vacation experience. Deciding on the best Alaska tours comes down to how a person would like to see all of the finest parts of the state. Whether that’s by ship or by land vehicle - or a combination of both - is a more a matter of personal preference and the time available to tour, than of anything else.

China in an effort to respond to the swine flu crisis with alacrity is ensuring any possible victims of the virus are quarantined! According to the article “Swine flu quarantine warning for visitors to China!” travellers from countries already exposed to the H1N1 virus are a risk as well as those coming into contact with people displaying flu-like symptoms on the flight over there.
What is more, to Chinese officials, it doesn’t matter how influential you are as even the Mayor of New Orleans (not showing any ill-effects or symptoms) was confined to quarantine on his visit to Shanghai. The mayor, it was felt, was potentially exposed to someone suffering with a flu-like illness and so was placed into quarantine as a precaution.
While it is appreciated that containment is important, it is hoped that drastic improvements are made to the current conditions of the hell known as swine flu quarantine.

According to the article “Know your rights as a holiday package consumer?” it seems the current holiday market has taken away our new roles as Internet travel agents – but will we miss it all that much?
I think we will survive!
If it means swapping our vulnerability for a position of greater strength – reducing the likelihood of losing our holiday money while increasing our confidence in the holiday market, booking our holidays through an ATOL registered agent is the sensible thing to do!
Actually, come to think of it, I’d much rather flick through a few brochures from the high street travel agents than trawl through endless websites any day of the week. Handing over to the professions means booking our holidays need no longer stress us out and take up hours and hours of our time! Thank goodness for that!
